Regent Hamenang:”With KLIC Fest, We Can Build Togetherness”

KLATEN (Jateng ), media3.id – A warm speaking prevailed as Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo sat with delegates from the International Veteran Cycle Association (IVCA) at a gala dinner held in the courtyard of Sewu Temple, Prambanan Temple Tourism Park Complex, Saturday (May 23, 2026). This gala dinner officially closed the 2026 Klaten International Cycling Festival (KLIC Fest) series, which was held from May 17-24, 2026.

IVCA Vice President Filip Pauwels said the hospitality shown by the Klaten residents during the KLIC Fest series was unforgettable. The diversity of cultures and traditions was also a new experience for the delegates who participated in the event.

“Thank you, the people of Klaten, for your warm welcome. This hospitality demonstrates that Klaten can be a worthy destination for tourists in Indonesia,” he said.

The 2026 KLIC Fest series, consisting of the International Cycling History Conference (ICHC), IVCA Rally, Bike Camp, a bicycle parade, and a number of other events, marks Klaten’s potential to host international events.

“With bicycles, we can build togetherness, and cycling also breaks down barriers between us. Klaten will always be open to cyclists from all over the world,” Regent Hamenang said.

The peak of the 2026 KLIC Fest series was held lively with the International Costume Bicycle Parade which was centered in the Sewu Temple area, Prambanan Temple Complex, Sunday (24/5/2026).

Thousands of cyclists from across Indonesia and abroad packed the cultural heritage area. Approximately 7,000 participants took part in the parade, which concluded the entire KLIC Fest 2026 series.

Three old bicycle communities from Banjar City , West Java , took part in the 44th International Veteran Cycle Association (IVCA) Rally in 2026 which was held in the courtyard of Sewu Temple , Prambanan Temple complex, Klaten Regency , Central Java, Saturday (23/5/2026).

Three communities representing Banjar City: KOSTI (Indonesian Vintage Bicycle Community), BASDJAN (BanjaR Sapedah Awal Djaman), and KOLARI (Langensari Onthel Community). Their presence symbolizes the spirit of preserving the culture of vintage cycling while strengthening ties between communities from various regions and countries.

The participant coordinator from Banjar City, H. Yoyo Suharyono, said that community members were very enthusiastic about participating in the activity. He believed that international events like the IVCA Rally were a crucial opportunity to introduce Banjar City’s vintage bicycle community to the world.

“Thank God, the community from Banjar City was able to attend and mingle with participants from various regions and countries. This was an extraordinary experience and strengthened friendships among vintage bike enthusiasts,” he said.

The Acting Head of the Klaten Regency Culture, Youth, Sports and Tourism Office, Purwanto, explained that the International Costume Bicycle Parade was the closing gong of the entire KLIC Fest series which had lasted for eight days.

“This activity involved various types of bicycles, taking a route around the Prambanan area. The enthusiasm of the participants was extraordinary, both from across the archipelago and abroad. The ontelis (mountains) who traveled from Anyer to Panarukan have all arrived in Prambanan,” he explained.• (Shaleh Rudianto media3)
